Destination Creation Workshops

What makes a community a destination? What makes an attraction “the place to go?” Usually, it’s one thing that they offer that can’t be found anywhere else in their market area. A business can also become a destination, helping all the other businesses in their area, as well as the community itself prosper.

The Destination Creation Course can guide forward thinking businesses in your community toward becoming destinations. Started by destination business expert Jon Schallert as a three day program in Colorado, this course is being offered by Rawley Point as a unique one or two day program taught in your community by certified facilitator Roger Russove. The classroom portion of the workshop will include video lessons from Jon Schallert, as well as selected video guests, and group discussion with Roger.

Day one includes sessions on the critical lessons of the program:

1. Becoming a Destination

2. The Foundation of a Destination Business: Your Unique Positioning Statement

3. Capturing Consumer and Media Attention

4. Creating a Customer Focused Company

5. Your Leadership Responsibility

Day two (half-day) includes sessions on the following topics:

1. Targeting Your Most Profitable Customers

2. Marketing Your Destination Business

In the days following the classroom portion of the workshop, Roger will visit each participating business in person. Here we will help identify the Unique Position of the business, how to bring it to the top of your consumer’s mind and how to use this to maximize attention for the business. These visits will last approximately one hour each, and may stretch into a third day depending on the number of participating businesses.

All of the above content, and more, will be available to participating businesses via Jon Schallert’s Destination University Online Library before and after your workshop.

We can also work with you and your participating business to schedule follow up discussions with your participating businesses, and Roger will be available to guide the businesses after the workshop is complete.

“The Destination Creation Seminar was easy to follow with its video example and discussions afterwards. The class participation and interactions were insightful and helpful. The homework assignment in creating a positioning statement really helped us think about our business in a different light and will definitely help market our business in years to come.”
Cameron Huck, Owner, Inventor’s Brewpub, Port Washington

“I believe the fact that the course was focused on what makes each business unique created a lot more brainstorming than other courses that perhaps share what industry standards are, what is required/recommended as a certain level of business, etc.  Since we all are in theory already experts in our own businesses, the course started from a place we all felt comfortable.  I’m not sure how other courses could tap into this idea, but it definitely stood out to me that I came away with a better understanding of my own business and concrete ways to enhance it.”
